Out of the Box: DIY Olympic Medals

This week was the official start of the 2018 Winter Olympics! If you’re looking to hold a few “Olympic competitions” of your own try creating these DIY Olympic Medals! These medals are fun and easy to make, and are a great way to show off a win for a mock competition.

Follow the steps below to create your Olympic Medals!

Supplies:

  • Cardboard Box
  • Box Cutter
  • Scissors
  • Number Stencil
  • Craft Tape
  • Cup
  • Ribbon

Step 1:

Using a paper cup, trace the bottom of the cup to create the circle for the medal.

Step 2:

Using your box cutter, cut out the circle.

Step 3:

Using your number stencil, trace and cut out the number you have chosen to use.

Step 4:

Using your craft tape (we used Scotch craft Tape found at Target) wrap both the medal and number with the tape until it is covered completely.

Step 5:

Using your box cutter, make two holes at the top of the medal to thread the ribbon through.

Step 6:

Tape the number cut out to the medal.

Step 7:

Using the ribbon of your choice (we used red, white, and blue), thread the ribbon through the holes you created.

Step 8:

Repeat these steps for each medal (silver and bronze).
