Kansas City Community Involvement
Fry-Wagner is proud to be celebrating over a century of service and our Kansas City ownership group and dedicated service teams are committed to active public service. We 'aspire to inspire' those around us! Through the years we have developed deep roots in the Kansas City community, and we've even influenced the transportation sector on a national level. Our President, Larry Fry, is the acting Chairman of our industry's governing body - the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA). AMSA's chief goals include protecting consumers and those individuals locally and nationally that require relocation services. Through his leadership with AMSA, Mr. Fry is well-known nationally as a creative, customer-centric leader who collaborated with his AMSA peers to form the consumer watchdog service Move Rescue™ - an advocacy group "aimed at stopping disreputable and unscrupulous interstate movers." In the Kansas City region, Fry-Wagner is active in key local-area Chambers of Commerce including the Greater Kansas City, Overland Park, Lenexa and Olathe Chambers. In addition, our Kansas City Sales Vice President is a long-standing member of the Economic Development Council of Olathe and past Olathe School Board President.
Over the years, Fry-Wagner has partnered with numerous school districts in the Kansas City and outlying areas to spearhead food and clothing drives and disaster relief efforts during critical times of need. During the holiday season, Fry-Wagner sponsors a Kansas City Toys for Tots donation center and assists the Salvation Army in the transportation of seasonal displays. We are proud to have celebrated our 4th annual Christmas Carol event at a local Kansas City retirement community, and very excited that this event has been growing in numbers each year!
Most recently, Fry-Wagner 'stretched our legs' and targeted Greensburg, Kansas as a community in need of our assistance. Back in 2007, this community was leveled by a tornado with 205 mph winds that not only decimated houses and buildings, but also removed countless trees in the area. Enter the Fry-Wagner service team! President Larry Fry was asked by Suburban Lawn and Garden of Kansas City to transport 200 trees, each weighing several hundred pounds, from their Kansas City tree farm to the small town of Greensburg. Although Fry-Wagner has moved just about anything imaginable over the past century, this created a unique challenge that our Kansas City local moving teams had to plan special steps to service. Suburban Lawn's Owner Bo Stueck said it best when describing the logistics of this effort - "it's like choreographing a ballet.a ballet with 20-foot tall trees!" All loads made it successfully from Kansas City to Greensburg, in time for each tree to celebrate Arbor Day in its new surroundings!
As a result of our civic activities in Kansas City and the surrounding communities, Fry-Wagner was recently recognized by the Governor of the State of Missouri who proclaimed August 15th "Fry-Wagner Day" statewide! Our Kansas City local moving teams are proud of this recognition, and we will continue to lead the way in "giving back" to ensure Kansas City remains the special community it is today!
